Last Friday, during the golden jubilee and 56th anniversary celebrations of Sundarban Government Model College in Khulna, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, stated in his keynote speech:
"Aynaghar (interrogation rooms) were not limited to cantonments alone. They also existed in universities, hotels, and even private residences. You are only aware of one location. The rest, you don’t know yet. But you might come to know about them soon."
Following his remarks, netizens on social media have delved into discussions and analyses of these "new Aynaghars." The topic has become a subject of intense discussion everywhere—from tea stalls to public conversations.
Many netizens are offering various opinions, with some suggesting that during the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina, fascism permeated every sphere. In that context, the presence of Aynaghars in universities wouldn’t be surprising.
