BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has not yet found a suitable environment to return to the country, commented the party's Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. He mentioned that Tarique Rahman will return soon if the situation becomes favorable, and it will only take a short time.
Salahuddin Ahmed made these remarks on Sunday afternoon after returning from London to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, two weeks after his trip.
In response to a question, this member of the BNP's Standing Committee said that the party always welcomes new parties, but it should not be under the shelter or patronage of a government like the "King's Party." He added that the current anti-fascist unity formed in the country must be implemented, and based on national unity, there is an urgent need for elections to be held in line with democratic processes.
Regarding the Constitution, he stated that the Constitution can never be buried, although it can be amended or revised. He urged the government to announce a clear roadmap for the elections.
When asked about the discussions with Tarique Rahman, Salahuddin Ahmed said, "You will gradually learn more about this. However, the Acting Chairman has emphasized unity."
Salahuddin Ahmed went to the UK on December 20 at the invitation of Tarique Rahman. He stayed at his eldest daughter's house in London. During his visit, Salahuddin Ahmed had meetings with Tarique Rahman regarding BNP's future politics, national elections, and other matters, as well as with various levels of leadership of the UK BNP.
