BNP will hold meetings in the district-metropolis from Tuesday

BNP has announced a series of meetings and rallies in districts and metropolitan areas across the country to demand the announcement of an election roadmap and address various public issues. This program will continue until the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to start next Tuesday.

At a press conference on Saturday afternoon at BNP's central office in Nayapaltan, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi outlined the party's plan for these activities. He stated that the rallies will focus on demands such as keeping the prices of essential goods affordable, improving the deteriorating law and order situation, demanding the announcement of the election roadmap to ensure a democratic transition, and countering the conspiracies of the fascist regime.

Rizvi accused Sheikh Hasina's administration of being backed by fascist elements who occupy important positions within the government. He claimed that these elements are trying to obstruct the changes brought by the student-popular uprising on August 5. Rizvi emphasized that if the interim government fails to identify these elements, it will be difficult for them to succeed.

He also quoted BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman, who stated that not all actions taken by the interim government may be seen as successful by everyone. However, the failure of this government would be considered a failure of the democratic forces. BNP desires the success of the interim government, but Rizvi raised concerns whether the government itself truly wants to succeed. He also criticized the government's priorities, calling for immediate steps to address the public's daily suffering, instead of focusing on less important issues.

Rizvi continued by accusing Sheikh Hasina of being involved in creating instability in the country. He alleged that after fleeing to India on August 5, Hasina has been inciting unrest through audio recordings aimed at destabilizing Bangladesh. He claimed that under Hasina's provocation, the ruling party's leaders and activists have launched attacks and violence across the country, including a brutal assault on student protesters in Gazipur, which left over 15 people seriously injured.

Rizvi also condemned the actions of former Gazipur Mayor Jahangir, accusing him of collaborating with fascist elements to orchestrate violence and intimidation. He highlighted Jahangir's statement, "We will not let anyone sleep in a city where we can't even walk during the day," as an example of his violent intentions. Rizvi criticized the government's failure to arrest such individuals, calling it a severe incompetence.

Furthermore, Rizvi accused former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed of holding a secretive meeting with followers of the fascist government. He alleged that despite the exposure of Benazir's conspiratorial activities against the state, the administration has remained indifferent, failing to take action against him or his associates.

Finally, Rizvi expressed frustration over the government's lack of action against the ruling party's criminals, particularly after the interim government took power on August 8. He argued that the government's failure to arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killing of innocent people during the past violence is a failure to establish the rule of law and justice. He insisted that true justice cannot be served while such individuals remain free, either within the country or abroad.
