BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “What is needed now is unity—particularly the unity of the people with the students. At this moment, everyone must remain united—both the general public and the students.”
He made these remarks on Saturday evening (January 4) while virtually addressing a student assembly organized at the Thakurgaon General Library premises. The district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) hosted the event to mark its founding anniversary.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Over the past 15 years, the fascist government has destroyed the education system, disrupted the country’s economy and democracy, and murdered numerous students. Thousands of students were killed during anti-discrimination movements. Whenever this Awami League comes to power, they cling to it by force and destroy everything in the country. Today, your movement, combined with the people’s movement, has created opportunities for change after Hasina fled the country. What is needed now is unity—especially between the people and the students.”
Addressing Chhatra Dal activists, he said, “First and foremost, you must focus on your studies, achieve good results, and stand on your own feet. At the same time, you must stay informed about the country’s political situation and communicate the BNP's ideology to the people. We have always aimed to free this country from corruption, protect democracy, and safeguard people’s rights. We will also uphold press freedom. Today, many conspiracies are afoot, but we will not bow to those conspiracies.”
The assembly was presided over by district Chhatra Dal President Md. Kayes, with speeches by District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice Presidents Obaidullah Masud, Abu Taher, and Al Mamun Alam, as well as Joint General Secretaries Poigam Ali and Ansarul Haque, and Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam.
