In July, following a press conference by then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the name of "400-crore peon Jahangir" became widely discussed. Finally, the whereabouts of Sheikh Hasina's peon have been confirmed. This information has been verified through the social media account of expatriate journalist Zulkarnaine Sayar.
Jahangir, the peon in question, is now in the United States. He was reportedly seen at the Bangladesh Consulate Office in New York.
On Thursday at 4:34 AM, Zulkarnaine Sayar shared this information on his verified Facebook page.
In his post, Zulkarnaine wrote: “The widely discussed 'Peon Jahangir Alam' of Sheikh Hasina was seen today (Wednesday, local time) at the Bangladesh Consulate Office in New York, waiting to get several documents notarized with power of attorney.”
Jahangir, who reportedly embezzled over 400 crore taka and fled to the U.S. with his family, was attempting to cover his face and head with a cap during this encounter, Zulkarnaine mentioned. However, he was still caught on a hidden camera.
This incident sheds light on the ongoing controversy surrounding Jahangir Alam, whose name came into the spotlight after the prime minister's remarks.
