On Sunday, January 5th, retired military officer Major Dalim, a decorated freedom fighter (Bir Bikram), joined a special live session on journalist Elias Hossain’s YouTube channel titled, “Bir Muktijoddha Major Dalim (Bir Bikram) Joins Special Live.”

During the session, Major Dalim stated, “Mujib did not die; he was killed in a military coup. After the end of BAKSAL, millions of people took to the streets to express their gratitude.”

He went on to say, “Sheikh Mujib had intensified his tyranny to such an extent, akin to authoritarian behavior, that people were praying to their Creator for relief from his oppression.”

Reflecting on the Liberation War, Major Dalim said, “When the so-called leaders fled to India, and there was no one to lead, everyone was busy with negotiations. When the Pakistani forces attacked the Bengalis, Major Zia’s declaration of independence came. At that time, I was in the Pakistan Army. Hearing Major Zia’s declaration, I realized it was no longer a time to sit idly by. That’s when we joined the fight against Pakistan.”

He added, “Our courage and leadership during the war helped drive the country towards independence under those critical circumstances.”

It should be noted that Major Dalim was implicated in the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the then-President of Bangladesh, along with his family, on August 15, 1975.
